The Akha use coins, silver and Job’s Tears seeds to decorate their headdresses and traditional costumes.In recent times, they’ve started using aluminium. We saw an opportunity to create a marketable product, and voila, the placemat came to be. Using naturally-dyed handwoven hemp, the artisans add upcycled aluminium discs and Job’s Tears beads.
