Bosschaert was a Dutch, still life painter and art dealer. He specialised in painting flowers and fruit and was one of the earliest painters to create floral still lifes as an independent genre. His compositions are very symmetrical and precise, carefully balancing form and colour. The National Gallery, London houses one of the greatest collections of paintings in the world. Its collection boasts 2,300 works including many famous paintings such as van Eyck’s Arnolfini Portrait, Velázquez’s Rokeby Venus, Turner’s Fighting Temeraire and Van Gogh’s Sunflowers.
