Description Limited Release It may only be March, but monsoon season has arrived early. One of our oldest colorways is the combination of orange and grey we like to call, Monsoon. Inspired by the colors one sees during a midday monsoon in Arizona with the orange sun visible on the dark grey clouds. We’ve featured it on numerous anodized releases over the years, and for the first time we’re bring it to life in Cerakote. The Monsoon Cerakote Bolt is a specially curated collaboration with Area 15 featuring a multi-step wearing process that begins with the raw pens. Heavy-worn raw aluminum pens are created by manually adding nicks, dings, gouges, and scratches to the bodies of the pens which are then sent to our Cerakote applicator. A coat of Sniper Grey (H-234) is put down first and partially cured. While still tacky, a coat of Hunter Orange (H-128) is applied over the Sniper Grey and that is partially cured. The Hunter Orange is then removed by hand with an acetone soaked Scotch Brite pad. The results are a wearing away of the orange and revealing the grey beneath, however, all of the dings and dents hold the orange which darkens from the force wearing process. The result is a unique look on every pen and a brand new way of representing the Monsoon colorway. The hunter orange on these pens ranges from orange to red with the majority taking on a rust-orange tint. We have selected tumbled knobs and raw clips for this release.
