Description The Jay Haide L’Ancienne Viola is a superb instrument for the progressing viola player. The Jay Haide Euro model L’Ancienne Viola is made with the finest aged European maple and spruce. In the short time they have been available these violas have been a big hit around the world. These very special violas are only available in limited numbers. Jay Haide instruments have a remarkably mature, rich sound usually associated with more expensive instruments. The instrument on offer is set up in our workshop with Ebony fittings and Pirastro Evah Pirazzi strings. The Jay Haide instruments are a result of years of collaboration between makers Jay Ifshin and Haide Lin, who studied the varnish techniques of master European luthiers. The distinctive appearance of these instruments is achieved by shading and antiquing of the specially formulated varnish.
